January 26, 2010

Please join me as I host another Ask Dr. Park teletraining program on "What You MUST Know About Sleep Apnea Surgery." I get inundated with questions about surgery all the time, and I thought it was time I spoke my mind about this controversial subject. i had chronic sinus infections and a deviated septum.  I had surgery to straighten my nose and clean everything out.  everything was great for a couple of months.  Then i got really sick and got another sinus infection.  I have tried mulitple rounds of anitboitics and pregosine.  The medicine did not get ride of the sinus infection.  The ENT has looked in my nose twice with his tool and I had another CT scan done.  Only my right nasal passsage way becomes blocked and 99 percent of the time it is at night and sometimes radndomly during the day.  I try laying on the opposite side and sleeping propped up but it still doesn't work.  I wake up in the middle of the night because I cant breathe and I have a hard time going back to sleep.  I have tried almost everyhting.  The only thing that works is Afrin but I have only used it a couple of times because it can make it worse if one uses it to often.  I try to go outside or brethe fresh air as much as I can, but I live in the midwest and it is very cold outside.  I also work as a pilot and Im in a plane and hotels alot.  I exercise 4-5 a week.  I dont know what to do.  it affects my sleep but no one can see anything in my nose so they cant fix what they can't see.  Thanks for your help!
